Hello Parents and Dancers,
I can’t wait to have our students back in the studio starting Monday, Jan 11. Taking class virtually is always an option, and is at your discretion. The link continues to be available in your account.
Please read this entire email, as all this information relates to your dancer. It is important for me to share how this decision was achieved. Maintaining safety is first and foremost.
Dance is incredible for the mind and physical well-being for everyone, especially young people. Isolation can cause depression, and it is important to resume the normalcy of in studio classes. Because dance studios fall across several different “categories”, regulations continue to be confusing and I sought guidance from local and state leaders.
As a reminder, it was my discussion with our Mayor that motivated the virtual classes after Thanksgiving, as our local hospitals were overwhelmed. My constant research has provided information revealing the following improvements. Monitoring the Lake County incidence rate in mid-November, the county has seen a decrease in this important health metric by nearly two-thirds. Similarly, COVID-19 hospital admissions in Lake County (reported on a 7-day rolling average) have decreased by half since the peak on Nov. 16. In addition, it has been reported by the IDPH that Region 9 has seen a decline in the positivity rate under the threshold.
I am proud that our protocol put into place last fall has provided a safe environment. We will continue our screening system that has been in place for all who enters the building – including temperature checks and hand sanitizing; masks are required to be worn at all times, while in the building, including in the bathrooms by students faculty and staff; individual studio capacity has been limited and blocked off so that each student is 6 ft. apart. Should your dancer exhibit symptoms, or if there was a possible exposure, please choose to take classes virually until it is safe to return. Please make sure your dancer has a properly fitting mask. We are in this together!
